Welcome to the Radiological Protection Centre (RPC) Website

Covid-19 crisis update

All RPC staff remain contactable via email and the main office telephone number (020 8725 1050) during this time. We would be pleased to advise on the radiation protection implications of temporary X-ray services or other changes in imaging practice. We will endeavour to perform commissioning tests of all new X-ray equipment during this crisis, where practicable. All routine work will remain on hold. We also aim to provide personal dose monitoring services where our supplier can accommodate. You will be advised on whether to return your personal dose monitors or keep them until the next batch can be issued. The JPL remains open for instrument calibration and repair.

We wish our customers all the best during this difficult time and look forward to resuming normal service soon.

The John Perry Laboratory (JPL) is RPC's Calibration Laboratory

JPL specialises in calibrating dosemeters and kVp meters (invasive and non-invasive) that are used in the field of diagnostic radiology. JPL has been in operation since 1994 and is also certificated to ISO 9001:2015.

In 2009 JPL became the first laboratory of its kind in the UK to gain accreditation to ISO 17025 "General requirements for the Competence of calibration and testing laboratories".  In the UK, this is generally known as having UKAS accreditation. This accreditation shows that JPL carries out instrument calibrations to the stated accuracy and that these calibrations are fully traceable to primary national standards. Click on the UKAS logo, on the left, to see JPL's Schedule of Accreditation.
